Advanced Module Use
Here will we learn about using modules in Joomla to control the areas of your site.
Of course your first step is to log in to your Joomla/Site administration area.
Once there, select the extensions link, them Modules from the drop down.
This will display the screen below, notice the Hints.
Let's say we want to add or remove our FaceBook logo from a page.
Click on the Facebook Logo link
We now see this page
We can select the pages we want the Facebook logo to be shown, they will always be in the left column.
Note: Never Add Modules to articles in the Hidden Menu, spare menus, user menus or main menu
If we scroll down we will see this edit box on our module page
Our familiar edit box. Nothing need be done here and if you get really comfortable with Joomla you can create your own modules.
Positioning Modules
So where in the left menu will this item show up?
We can control that like this...
So as it stands, we can assume that the Facebook button will be below any ad boxes since it is not seen in the order above. Should we want it to be say above the ad boxes, we would click #14 and it would then change to the 15th option, putting the Facebook logo above the ad boxes. This action will take place on ALL pages.
How about those ad boxes.. Can you change the text?
Sure you can, let's look at that.
Close the Facebook page we were working on, this will display the list of modules again.
Now pick the ad box module you want to edit.
I picked the We Buy Gold ad box to edit.
Unfortunately, the CSS style code for the site and the administration are different causing the text to not appear in the editing module as it does on the page. Do not try to line up the text in the editing mode, just make the changes. We hope to have this issue and the repeating boxes fixed soon.
When done with the editing, save and check the site to see that it looks like you want.
Remember, to place it on the page you want you use the same method as we learned above.
