Getting
Started with Gallery Editor
When you first open the Toko Editor it will require
a password, this will be your normal administration password
for other areas of your site.

After logging in, you are presented with the following type of screen;

While your site has been set up with some preexisting
categories, (To add Sub Categories such as Rings, Necklaces,
Earrings, etc, see ADVANCED NOTES) let's
explore what the buttons and options on the interface do.
Starting with the Left Side:

Now for the right side:

The Icons above are similar to what is used throughout
this simple gallery program.
Now, let's get our gallery up and running.
Working and adding Images
Images can be easily added to your Gallery but
please keep a few things in mind.
- Bigger is not always better for the web.
72DPI is the expected resolution for web images, that 8 mega
pixel image will be way too large and only slow the loading
of your page down to a crawl and cause all the other formatting
of the page to become displaced. Images should be LESS that
650 pixels wide. Use .jpg or .png images only, .bmp and other
format are to large of files.
- The sizes that will work best for images in gallery is 350
to 650 pixels wide. The Gallery program will take care of
making a smaller image for the thumbnail for you.
- We recommend that you name your images with
the SKU or Style number, if it is an item from a Vendor or
Vendor site, use a few letters to identify the vendor before
the style number. i.e. " SG-LP3687.jpg" for Simon
G. style LP3687. You want to be able to easily identify the
item when a customer calls or emails you about an item.
While jewelerssites does not provide software to
edit your images, your camera software most likely had a programs
provided with it to edit the image sizes and such.
We also suggest Adobe
Photo Shop and Adobe
Photos Shop elements, Corel
Paint Shop Pro.
A really great and FREE powertoy from Microsoft for XP, Microsoft
Image Resizer Powertoy, is our chosen tool for rapid image
resizing and be downloaded here.
There is no documentation for this powertoy and
it installs so fast you may not know you have it, here is how
it works.
Use windows explorer to browse to you image or directory
of images. Highlight the images you wish to resize. Right
click with the images highlighted. There is a new option in
the context box after right clicking that is "Resize Pictures". Select that
option and a window will open with the choices of a 640X480,
800X600, 1024X768, 240X320 or custom. Depending on the need
for the image dictates the size we need, 100 or 150 px is a
very common size for internet use. If you choose the custom
size, you need only put the pixel size in the first box (it
says 1200 now) and the program will keep the constraints of
the proper dimensions.
After selecting "OK" The new image is is the same directory, normally
at the bottom, with the original name and (custom) or something
else to designate it as the new , smaller image. The original
is untouched and the original size.
Now with all that said, Let's add some items;
Begin by clicking the category we want to add
items to, in this example we selected Bridal Jewelry.

This will take us to the Bridal Jewelry Sub Menu,
we need to upload our images first;

This now opens a new window that will allow us
to upload up to 10 images at a time.

After clicking the "Browse" button,
the familiar Windows Explorer window will open, browse to your
image and click to upload. (Hint, you can select the VIEW icon
on the farthest top right to see thumbnails rather than file
names)

When you have selected all the images or all the
spots are filled, click the "CCHECK" button to begin uploading
the images.
After the images have uploaded, the screen will
let you know.
Click "Back
to Folder"

We are now presented with the following screen.
Here we can add the Description and the price of the item.
Click the "EDIT" icon to begin the process.

This in turn presents us with a screen to add the
information for this particular item.

You can at any time leave and come back to the
category and edit items, change description or prices or delete
the item.
When all items have had the information entered
for the description etc, you can select the "VIEW GALLERY"
button to see your work.
Feel free to see the Demo at http://www.jewelerssites.com/mg2/ or
the images below to see what the gallery should look like.
ADVANCED NOTES:
1. I know what you are thinking... "I bet I can
have categories within a category to break the selection
down to stuff like earrings, rings, pendants, you know stuff
like that."
You are correct!
Simply get in the category you wish such as "Diamond
Jewelry", select the "New Folder" button at the top left and
create the new folder. Now click into that folder and add images
and edit descriptions as before.
2. By clicking on the "EDIT" button for a folder/category
you can put a sales pitch or description for that category
Give it a try.
